06 AAD workshops
holeinmypocket were involved in several
workshops organised for those participating in Advanced Architectural
Design (AAD) at the University of Strathclyde Graduate School session
2002-03.
Each dealt with different subject matter
with its interpretation open to those taking part. The first workshop
took place on a beach on the east coast of Scotland and was entitled constructing
territory. Participants were asked to engage with the phenomena of
performance art, construction, spacial organisation and physical context
during a 60 minute silent performance.
The Sculpture Workshop was held at the Scottish
Sculpture Studio in the historic village of Lumsden, Aberdeenshire. The
workshop which took place over the course of two days concluded wiht a
public presentation of the work produced to the Studio directors and the
people of Lumsden.
The final workshop, contamination,
was based in exploring the social, political, economic and emotional assemblage
which define modes of behaviour and occupation, and in discovering/uncovering
the relationship between this lived dimension and the existing built environment.
It invited its participants to create spatial dislocation or contaminations
which intervene within existing power structure.
