07 seven design group

multidisciplinary: During my nine months at Seven Design Group I worked on a diverse array of projects, both architectural and engineering. These included sketch design, feasibility studies, details as well as civil, fabrication, planning and construction drawings. The ethos of the company was to provide integrated design, allowing for the free interaction between architect's and engineers.

development: Seven Design Group were keen to promote the development of the company into different fields and near the end of my time there employed a freelance graphic designer to work on a series of projects. They also provided me the opportunity to develop new 3D skills which included creating models in Autocad to be rendered in the Art-Lantis package. In addition to this, I was encouraged to make use of packages such as Piranesi and Adobe Illustrator.

project example: The historic Tenthall building located in Glasgow's Saltmarket area was to be converted to luxury flats. With only its facade to be retained a completely new internal structure of timber frame on steel was designed and built. My responsibilities on the project included 3D visualisation of the courtyard space, amendments to existing drawings, assisting with the design of steel column and beams layout as well as accompanying the architect to on site meetings.
