09 arcosanti [construction+planning]

intro: During a three month period at Paulo Soleri's Arcosanti in the Arizona desert I was fortunate enough to participate in the projects planning, construction and ongoing maintenance. The majority of my time was split between the Planning Department and working on the site itself.

construction: The main construction task during my time with the project was the creation of several concrete wall panels. This involved the making of plywood forms, cutting and placing rebar, as well as mixing, testing, pouring and finishing the concrete.

planning: During my voluntary internship in the Planning Department I was responsible for updating the digital catalogue of door and window and door details as well as amending several plans, sections and elevations. Working alongside the Services Coordinator I helped produce a sprinkler layout plan for the East Crescent.
