10 twelve minute site

brief: To investigate what a "12min site" might constitute as part of the 12minutes in Berlin Post Graduate Diploma unit.

site: As part of a field trip to Berlin, the unit was asked to record and document a 12min site of our choice. My chosen site was Karl Marx Allee in the former east Berlin which was built during Stalin's reign of the Soviet regime and was wide and long enough for aircraft to land and take off.

design: A site can be passed though in 12minutes but you may be crossing layers of history stretching back decades, possibly centuries.

Several quick proposals for possible post communist era uses for the Allee aimed to act as a catalyst for ideas on the past, present and future of the grand avenue with the view of better understanding how time effects the architectural process.
